The Peace Action, Training and Research Institute of Romania (PATRIR)
The Peace Action, Training and Research Institute of Romania (PATRIR), is both an institute, organization, training center and network, linking together scholars, practitioners and grassroots activists throughout Romania. Its aim is to address the core challenges facing Romania and the countries of south and eastern Europe, to strengthen and empower grassroots organisations and citizens’ action, to mobilise people for active peace work, peaceful conflict transformation and social and community development, and to address the structural causes of poverty, human rights violations and economic and social injustice. PATRIR is an institute and an organisation for research and active peace work.
Association for Liberty and Gender Equality (ALEG)
ALEG was established in 2004 by three young women in order to fight gender discrimination and gender-based violence. The NGO has concentrated on raising the awareness and self esteem of young women in order to ‘strengthen their voices and seek the fulfillment they deserve in life.’ ALEG provides counseling and has been involved in many awareness-raising campaigns on a regional and national level. |
